Richard
A. Herman is the founding member of the Herman Law Firm. Mr. Herman received an A.B. from Rutgers College
of Rutgers University and J.D., with high honors, from the University
of Miami Law School where he was Senior Articles and Comments Editor of the University of Miami Law Review and
was Vice President of the prestigous Wig & Robe Societly. He has also taken post doctoral studies in the LLM
program at New York University School of Law.
Mr.
Herman has had three separate careers in law serving in the public sector and as a law school professor in addition to his
almost 25 years of private practice.
His
public service includes stints as a Deputy Attorney General of New Jersey and as a consultant to the New York State legislator
on Regulatory Reforms. He has also served as special ambassador to the Peoples Republic of China.
Mr.
Herman has taught at the University of Miami School of Law as an instructor in Legal Research and
Writing and as at Albany Law School as a Professor of Public Law teaching Administrative Law, Constitutional Law, Government
Regulation of Business, Legislation and Government Contracts. He has also served as an instructor in New York State
Bar Association continuing education programs.
In
private practice, Mr. Herman concentrates his practice in the areal of commercial and residential real estate, banking and
commercial transactions, land use planning, environmental regulation, and estate planning, as well as small business planning.
He is also a strong advocate of indivual rights and liberties and represents individuals in cases protecting those rights,
especially focusin on discriminatory practices.
Mr. Herman is a member of the American Bar Association, the New Jersey State Bar Association
and the New York State Bar Association.
